There are several things you should hit sometime.

1) Kirby Lane Cafe for queso and other sundry food goodness (gingerbread pancakes, corn cakes, etc). The main one is close to UT on Guadalupe (pronounced Guadaloop) and is open all the time. 2) Wander around the UT campus and Guadalupe. It will give you a good idea of Austin and the type of people it attracts. If you feel particularly tourist-y, go up the UT tower for a good view of the city. 3) Spend some time at Town Lake. It’s a good place to run around or kayak with a view of the downtown skyline. Or go to Zilker Park and Barton Springs. Or to Mayfield park which often has live peacocks in the trees. All very nice. 4) For movie-type entertainment, Alamo drafthouse is one of the more unique movie experiences. They serve beer, as their name suggests, and show the most random things sometimes (they actually showed the Lazy Sunday video before Narnia). 5) To get an accurate view of popular nightlife, the bars on 6th Street are very popular with our age group, but may feel a little personality-less. 6) Eat good Tex-mex. Trudy’s is a Stolk favorite and they serve really good Mexican Martinis with local Tequila.

There’s a lot of really great things about Austin. My siblings both live there, so if you end up there, let me know. You and my brother would get along famously. Good luck with your interview!
In Austin for a few days tag:blog.nertzy.com,2006-07-30:/id/21/comment_37 2006-07-30T20:33:33-05:00 2006-07-30T20:33:33-05:00 Simone http://
Good job moving to Austin, Grant!
